EFKON gains awards in UK Congestion Schemes London Congestion Charging Scheme EFKON AG is awarded a place on a Framework Agreement in relation to the London Congestion Charging and London Low Emission Zone Schemes. The place is for the supply of Roadside Systems and On Board Units (OBUs). Dr Helmut Rieder, the CEO of the Graz-based technology provider, said, “W e are delighted that TfL has awarded this position to EFKON.” The Framework Agreement is for four years. Final contract values and delivery schedules will be agreed upon in separate call off agreements under the Framework Agreement. Chief Executive of EFKON UK Keith Mortimer commented: “The teamwork and commitment shown by our colleagues has resulted in the recognition of our company’s abilities which is highly appreciated within our worldwide group.” EFKON UK is working with consortium partners led by telent, developing a revolutionary data collection process to support a fairer charging environment for motorists. The 3GRSE scheme (sponsored by the UK Government Technology Strategy Board) is a new development that will enable Road User Charging to form an integral part of existing Local Authority Urban Traffic Management and Control schemes. The project will develop a revolutionary data collection process to support a fairer charging environment for motorists, while creating a flexible package of measures designed to enhance legacy systems for congestion management and improvement of accessibility, safety and the environment. Steve George, independent 3GRSE consultant, adds, “This consortium is an excellent source whereby leading industry companies can work together to provide pioneering technological advancements within the transport industry. Currently Karl and his wife are busy with their new home in Styria, so his hobbies such as travelling, sailing and photography are on hold for this year. Karl is looking forward to a challenging and communicative cooperation within all units in EFKON.
